After spending the day at the doctor’s office getting aligned, though not getting springs like I hoped, she got to come home for the first time.
The was probably the longest it’s been driven in decades. There are some rattles that need to be investigated, the mufflers are hanging too low, and it’s going to need that new steering box I’ve been debating with myself about, but it made it through traffic on a 90 degree day and that’s no small feat for an old car.

Awesome! Speaking of heat, are you running an electronic fan or just a belt driven?

Argh, I’m so used to the sloppy steering that I forgot all about getting a new steering box. I definitely need one, though. Glad you got it home!

At least you have a garage for yours. Mine is filled with shelves and a minivan. My Camaro gets boarded in the winter at a kennel known as ‘the Aunts House’.

Thanks. I kept telling myself that the steering issues were the alignment but while it helped a LOT the slop was still there. I owned a different Camaro before so I know that’s not how it should be.

It’s electric. They just work better and originality isn’t important on this car.

It’s taken a long, long time. It’s been boarded at “the Parents’ House” forever.

You going to be switching to a new unit or a rebuilt original one?

I’d rather go new if I can find one for a reasonable price, but if I can’t a rebuilt from a known brand would be ok.

I heard the new GM units are much better than the old style boxes. PTFB and others make kits to put them in.
